Cydia on iOS 6.1 Untethered Jailbreak Coming With New Features . The notable iOS hacker @pod2G announced that an untethered jailbreak was on the verge of being released and that he was just waiting for Apple to release iOS 6.1.
Well now, iOS 6.1 has been released so the jailbreak must be coming anytime now, but this time, Cydia is ready for all the traffic boost it is about to get.
Cydia, the app marketplace for all the jailbreak-lovers, is the main reason for the pain of jailbreak for many people. In the past days, Cydia has suffered server outages and long loading times due to the tons of users it has received whenever an untethered jailbreak is released to the public though that might not be the case this time. Cydia founder Jay Freeman (more commonly known as ‘Saurik’) has posted on Reddit that with this new jailbreak, a “pre-primed” version would be installed on your device. Apparently, this version will already have a package catalog from all of the default repositories reducing the need to do a full refresh cycle.
Here is what Saurik has to say about it,
“This will not be as serious of an issue this time around; in addition to how everyjailbreak this problem is less problematic, planetbeing said he would finally deploy my “pre-primed Cydia” proposal, so when you open Cydia immediately after the jailbreak it will already have a package catalog from all of the defaultrepositories, and will not need to do a full refresh cycle (which is what really pummels the repositories during new jailbreaks): it will only need to grab the diffs. (That’s the one thing I thought random people seeing this conversation may actually want to know; beetling and 0ptimo otherwise correctly covered this suggestion itself.)”
